The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) held a joint meeting to discuss the pressing challenges facing the inbound tourism sector amidst current regional conditions. The meeting focused on enhancing coordination to protect the industry and reinforce Jordan’s global image as a safe and stable destination.

Mr. Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Chairman of the ACC, emphasized the need for a unified effort between the Chamber and JITOA. He highlighted the importance of intensive coordination with official authorities and proposed several strategic initiatives, including the development of a reliable low-cost national carrier and collaboration on promotional projects such as "Visit Amman" and the Amman Shopping Festival.

From his side, Mr. Nabih Riyal, Chairman of JITOA, stressed the urgency of a organized national movement to correct international perceptions of Jordan. He also advocated for institutional support to ensure the sustainability of tourism companies and proposed exploring a transition for JITOA to operate under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to better align with national tourism policies.

Key outcomes of the discussion included:

• Joint Committee: Exploring the formation of a joint committee to monitor sector challenges and implement action plans.

• Capacity Building: Collaborating on training and qualification programs to enhance professional standards within the workforce.

• Logistical Support: A commitment from the ACC to support JITOA with technical and research resources to boost the sector’s competitiveness.

The meeting was attended by senior board members from both the ACC and JITOA, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the tourism sector as a vital pillar of the national economy.
