JITOA Board Meets with Senate Tourism and Heritage Committee to Discuss Challenges Facing Inbound Tourism

Published : 28-01-2024

As part of its ongoing series of meetings with key officials and stakeholders, the Board of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA), led by Ms. Ghada Al Najjar, Chairman, met on Sunday with the Tourism and Heritage Committee of the Senate, chaired by HE Eng. Abdul Hakim Al-Hindi.

The meeting focused on addressing the challenges facing the tourism sector, particularly inbound tour operators, and exploring strategies to develop and strengthen the industry.

During the discussion, the JITOA board presented a detailed briefing on the main demands of the inbound tourism sector, the key challenges currently confronting companies, and proposed measures to support both the broader tourism sector and inbound tourism specifically.

Ms. Ghada Al Najjar urged the Senate members to support initiatives that provide targeted assistance to the sector, similar to the “Istidama” program implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such support would help companies meet their obligations, preserve employment, and manage accumulated financial pressures, which have been significantly impacted by the current regional circumstances.

The meeting highlighted the importance of continuous collaboration between private sector representatives and government institutions to ensure the sustainable growth and resilience of Jordan’s inbound tourism sector.
