JITOA and PDTRA Discuss Strategic Tourism Development in Petra

On Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, a joint meeting was held at the Amman Chamber of Commerce headquarters between the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) and the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA). The session included H.E. Eng. Adnan Al-Sawaair, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of PDTRA, and H.E. Eng. Yazan Al-Mahadin, Commissioner of Tourism, alongside the Chairman and Board Members of JITOA.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership between both entities and explore collaborative avenues to develop the tourism sector in Petra, reinforcing its status as a premier global destination.
Discussions focused on several critical issues, most notably Petra's entry ticket prices and their impact on tourism movement. The participants also reviewed the Authority’s future strategic plans scheduled for the upcoming phase, particularly in light of the current challenges facing the tourism industry.
Both parties emphasized the importance of unifying efforts between the public and private sectors. They highlighted the need for flexible strategies to stimulate inbound tourism and enhance the visitor experience, ultimately contributing positively to the national economy.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing coordination and consultation to serve the interests of the tourism sector and boost Petra's competitiveness on the global tourism map.
